Before The French Hen, Robin Rivard worked in restaurants and ran a flower shop from this very location. In 2012, she transformed the space into a cozy brunch haven with the help her daughter Madeline. Moonflower Pizza was born as a seasonal outdoor service in an effort to extend take-out offerings during the pandemic. Moonflower Pizza quickly became a neighborhood hit. Five years later, Moonflower Pizza has returned as a full-service offering, cementing a new evening twist to their culinary story.
Today, The French Hen is a beloved gathering place in Cathedral Hill, known for its French and Creole-inspired brunch, handcrafted lattes, and warm, inviting atmosphere.

Bringing the Spirit of Mardi Gras & Floral Art to St. Paul
At The French Hen Cafe, we love bringing people together through food, culture, and creativity. Every February/March, we celebrate Mardi Gras with a special menu honoring the rich flavors of Creole cuisine, letting the vibrant spirit of New Orleans shine through.
But our creativity doesn’t stop in the kitchen! Throughout the year, we host our roommate, Ergo Floral's workshops. These hands-on classes invite you to craft your own beautiful arrangements while enjoying the warm and welcoming ambiance of our café.
